151 Squadron provides Royal Guard of Honour

151 (Leominster) Squadron was fortunate to be involved in the visit of HRH the Duke of Gloucester to the town. Several Cadets were able to provide a guard of honour at The Grange for the Duke and civil dignitaries at a CBE Honour presentation and then marched through to the market square.

They were joined by other Squadron staff and Squadron Association Committee members manning a stall that demonstrated all that the Squadron offers to the community. Other organisations and charities also had stands showing the wide range of activities available to the town. The Duke then toured the displays and paused for several minutes to speak to cadets and staff about what they did and what new projects we were involved in.

The Duke speaks to Cadets

Cadet Dominik Thomas, who was part of the Honour Guard that day, said “I felt very proud representing 151 squadron and honoured to be part of the guard of honour for the Duke of Gloucester. Being a member of the air cadets has improved my confidence and given me the opportunity to have many new experiences.”

The Staff and Cadets discussed the setting up of the new Squadron Band as well as other Community Projects the unit has been involved with. A lot of interest was also shown by the general public who also made some generous donations towards new musical equipment.

Flight Lieutenant Martin Fulloway, Officer Commanding 151 Squadron, said “The day had proved to be a very successful public relations exercise and we look forward to the next royal visit.”
