The Royal Air Forces Association and the Royal Air Force Air Cadets recently held a parade in the City of Worcester to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force.

Veterans from across the West Midlands, Servicemen from RAF Cosford and over 100 Cadets from the West Mercian Wing paraded down the City High Street before holding a service of celebration and remembrance at Worcester Cathedral.

Wing Commander Andrew Griffin, Officer Commanding West Mercian Wing said “I am especially proud of the cadets from West Mercian Wing, they did themselves proud on the Parade today, receiving large amounts of praise from all the dignitaries and public. Well done!”

The Band of West Mercian Wing led the parade, playing popular tunes associated with the Royal Air Force from both World Wars. The Wing Drum Major, Cadet Flight Sergeant Hudson also gave a reading during the service.

Taking the salute on the parade was Air Marshal Julian Young, the Royal Air Force’s Chief Engineer, along with the Deputy Mayor of Worcester Councillor Allah Ditta.
