West Mercian Wing hold annual Field Day

Squadrons from across Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire and the Black Country recently came together at RAF Cosford to compete against each other in Military, Aviation and Technical skills competitions.

West Mercian Wing of the Air Training Corps, part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, recently held their annual Wing Field Training Day in which several hundred cadets compete in a diverse range of competitions, such as Drill & Ceremonial, Flying Skills, Aircraft Recognition and First Aid.

Wing Commander Andrew Griffin, Officer Commanding West Mercian Wing said “After another successful Wing Field Day, I offer my congratulations to 1119 (Shrewsbury) Squadron who were the overall winners today and to 233 (Pershore) Squadron who were the Wing Efficiency Champions for the 3rd year in a row!”

Other notable winners included 216 (Redditch) Squadron who won Drill, Smartest Squadron and the Flight Simulator competitions, and 2488 (Kingswinford) Squadron who won the Leadership and Technical Engineering Competitions.
