Are you seeking a new challenge? The Air Training Corps requires high calibre adult volunteers to assist with the running of its squadrons, no previous experience or military training is necessary, however you do need to be a minimum of 20 years of age. There are a number of ways in which you can help out. As a member of staff on a squadron you will start your career as a Civilian Instructor helping to deliver training on the squadron. Having served as a Civilian Instructor and with the recommendation of your squadron commander you may want to apply to become a uniformed member of staff, either as Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) or as a commissioned officer.

Our uniformed members of staff receive up to 28 days per year and are required to meet a minimum commitment of 12-hours service per month and complete a week long initial training course with a year of appointment; these take place at the ACO's Adult Training Facility (ATF) at RAF College Cranwell.

Those who do not wish to become a member of staff may wish to volunteer on a squadron's Civilian Committee. Civilian Committees normally meet on a monthly basis and exist to raise funds and manage the squadron's funds.

To join your local squadron either contact them directly using the details on the Squadrons page or telephone West Mercian Wing headquarters on 01902 377211. If you live outside of West Mercian Wing's catchment area your nearest squadron can be found from the Squadron Locator page of
